Svella, Ice Shaper EDH is all about getting early ramp to start abusing her abilities as soon as possible to get ahead and out value our opponents. The deck plays a lot of turn 1 ramp spells like Birds of Paradise, Elvish Mystic, etc. because getting our commander into play turn 2 is crucial. Getting even 2-3 Icy Manalith tokens onto the battle field can enable Svellas second ability which is extremely mana intensive. We run a few ways to get extra value out of both abilities; Illusionists Bracers and Seedborn Muse are 2 of our value all-stars and can lead to explosive, run-away games. Cheapening Svellas activation costs with Heartstone and copying the abilities with Rings of Brighthearth or untapping our commander with Rime Tender can help us keep pace with faster decks by reducing the resources needed and allowing for extra activations. Since Svella is so necessary to our game plan we’ll be running protection pieces in the forms of Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves, Heroic Intervention, and Archtype of Endurance. Multiplying tokens can obviously help but that’s not our focus so, to ensure we get value, we’re only running the most efficient pieces in this build. To keep our hand from getting plugged up with high CMC spells we can’t cast we’ll be adding a couple ways to cheat permanents into play and ways to shift our hand back into our deck. The mana multiplyers we run like Mana Reflection and Nyxbloom Ancient allow us to play out our hand later on, even if we lose access to Svella for whatever reason. Win conditions are mostly obvious Gruul stompy stuff but Terror of the Peaks and Sarkahns Unsealing make an appearance to push through direct damage from the giant creatures entering the battle field, the spikier Possibility Storm can befuddle all our opponents plays while still allowing us to play what we choose off the top of our deck with our commanders second ability, also, Hellkite Tyrant can be a desperation win if the game has gone too long. Removal is a mix of early game efficiency to mitigate opponents who may pull ahead quick and late game big, splashy spells we can hopefully cheat in with our commander to give us the edge and close out the game with a W.
