TIPS, TRICKS & INTERACTIONS

Land Tax fetches the Forests for Dark Heart of the Wood to turn them into valuable life points.

In addition Dark Heart of the Wood enables you to sacrifice Forests guaranteeing a Land Tax activation at the start of your turn.

Circumvent the unwelcome forestwalk granting drawback of Erhnam Djinn by sacrificing all Forests to Dark Heart of the Wood, if really necessary.

Armageddon circumvents the forestwalk granting drawback of Erhnam Djinn even better. After resolving he’s a solid 4/5 body that has cost you a mere .

Turn Balance into another (but determinable) Armageddon. Just sacrifice any amount of Forests you have in play to Dark Heart of the Wood in response to Balance being on the stack.

Stack it right and an activated Land Tax lets you ‘see’ 3 new cards with Sylvan Library at the start of each of your turns. You can even search for zero lands (up to three) and still have your shuffle effect.

Look up a card with Demonic Tutor and shuffle. With Sylvan Library in play, next turn you’ll also have the added benefit of seeing 3 new cards.

Turn your Forests into life points with Dark Heart of the Wood in order to use those to draw extra cards with Sylvan Library.

Use Icy Manipulator to tap down your Winter Orb at your opponent’s end step to deactivate it and enable yourself a full untap at the start of your turn. Then, everything untaps at the same time and Winter Orb activates again. Effect: Your opponent only gets to untap one land when it’s their turn. Rinse, repeat.

Generate a mana advantage with your Birds of Paradise and Elves of Deep Shadow after a Armageddon or in the midst of an active Winter Orb.

Mind Twist your opponents hands away, that are clogged, as a result of them being unable to play their cards, thanks to Armageddon and other mana denial.

Net a bunch of life with Dark Heart of the Wood, as an extra bonus, by sacrificing all the Forests you have in play before resolving your Armageddon.

Force an opponent to play a land (if they’re able to) after an Armageddon with your Land Tax on the battlefield. Next turn you’ll be able (if they did play a land) to snatch up to three basic lands out of your library. Now you’ll have plenty of lands to put out, but your adversary’ll likely be not so lucky to recover as quickly from the huge setback.
